Dating from the early 18th century, 2 Upper Cwrt Cottage is a delightful property which has been lovingly converted by its owners into a blissful retreat for four. With stone walls, wooden beams, cosy rooms and a fabulous stone fireplace all add to the village charm of this beautiful cottage. A peaceful, welcoming homestay that you'll just love returning to at the end of the day after exploring the surrounding countryside. Located in the pretty hamlet of Cwrt, just outside the village of Pennal and 4 miles from the seaside village of Aberdyfi. Just over half a mile away in Pennal, you will find the popular Riverside Hotel a fabulous traditional pub and one of mid-Wales's best restaurants. It's also ideally located to discover all that southern Snowdonia has to offer with walks aplenty and pretty market towns and villages to explore nearby.
2 Upper Cwrt is cosy, warm, and welcoming, the sitting room is simply perfect with a stone fireplace complete with log burning stove for those cooler days.
The country kitchen is great for rustling up meals - make sure to make the most of the amazing local produce that can be found in Machynlleth and Aberdyfi. The custom-designed cupboards contain everything you need to create culinary masterpieces- from baking a cake to a homemade casserole. In addition, there is a double oven with ceramic hob and all the other facilities you'd expect as well as a dining table, chairs for breakfasting and casual dining.
There are two cosy character bedrooms, the master bedroom has a comfy king-size bed and handmade built-in wardrobes. The second bedroom has two single 3ft beds a freestanding wardrobe and decorated in a seaside theme.
In the Area - Cwrt is a lovely unspoilt hamlet in the southern Snowdonia National Park, an ideal place for those who love to walk and cycle. There are some lovely walks down to the Dyfi river or up to Tarren y Gesail which is one of Wales' lesser-known peaks at 666m. Located between the village of Aberdyfi and the town of Machynlleth where both places have fabulous traditional pubs, great places to eat and traditional small shops.

Kitchen - A country style kitchen with under-counter double oven and ceramic hob, slimline dishwasher, built-in fridge with icebox, kettle, toaster, cafetiere, teapot, DAB radio, microwave and dining table with four chairs.
Utility Room - Washer dryer, clothes horse, and door leading to outside space
Bedroom 1 - Master bedroom with a king-sized bed, a built-in wardrobe and two bedside tables, iron and ironing board and a small chest of drawers.
Bedroom 2 - Twin bedroom with a freestanding wardrobe with three drawers, bedside cabinet, and two 3ft single beds.
Bathroom Room - Bath with wall mounted overhead shower, washbasin, and WC
Outside Area & Garden - At the rear of the property, there is a separate large enclosed garden surrounded by a small stream. There's also a summer house for your use, with adequate garden furniture for you to relax or have an alfresco picnic listening to the rippling stream and the birdlife that inhabits the garden. Please be aware that parts of the garden have direct access to the stream. Also at the rear of the property, there is a secure storage shed, an ideal spot to hang wet coats and muddy boots in after a long walk. Or if you are bringing your bikes it makes a secure place to store them that has direct access to the main road.
The small hamlet of Cwrt stands on the edge of the beautiful Happy Valley, located between the ancient town of Machynlleth and the picturesque coastal village of Aberdyfi near the southern tip of the Snowdonia National Park. Aberdyfi is renowned for its mild climate, sandy beaches, sailing and a championship 18-hole links golf course. The village is often referred to as an "artist's paradise" with its pastel coloured cottages, small shops, inns and excellent restaurants which specialise in local seafood, and it boasts some of the finest beaches in Britain, with four miles of golden sand-dune backed shoreline running north to Tywyn. The beaches are popular with sunbathers, swimmers, surfers and fishermen while the estuary attracts a wide range of water sports enthusiasts.
The peaks of the Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy ranges are within easy reach and are complemented by the charm of the Dyfi, Dysynni and Tal y Llyn valleys nearby. An ideal area for walkers, climbers and wildlife watchers, and a wonderful all-year-round location.

Booking and Payment
For bookings made more than 8 weeks before arrival, a 30% deposit of the total cost of the holiday is required at the time of booking. The balance is then due 8 weeks before the holiday commences.
For bookings made less than 8 weeks before arrival, the total amount is payable at the time of booking.
Security deposits are not normally required. Please note that guests are still liable for any damage, breakages, or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions.
Arrival & Departure times
Arrival time is from 5 pm / Departure time is no later than 9:30 am.
Please note: check-in and check-out times at the majority of our properties have been temporarily revised. The revised times for this property are reflected above.
Short breaks are available and can be booked for a minimum of 3 nights from the following days:
- Friday to Monday for a 3-night weekend break
- Monday to Friday for a 4 night midweek break
From November to February arrival days may be more flexible nearer the time although these exclude Sundays and any holidays.
Bed linen and towels are provided.
Heating & Electric
Electric heating is included in the accommodation price. Logs are not provided but can be purchased from the local garage at Machynlleth.
Sorry, there are no infant facilities available.
One well-behaved pet is welcome at an additional charge of £25 (to be kept downstairs).
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available. The owner cannot guarantee the availability or speed of the service as this is dependent on third-party suppliers.
There is free public parking in a car park 100M away from the cottage.
Access Health and Safety
2 Upper Cwrt is situated on the main Aberdyfi to Machynlleth road which can become busy especially during the high season. Please supervise children and pets when exiting the property.
There are small paths, hidden parts to the garden and woodland surrounding the property as well as drops by the local small stream, please do not allow children to play or explore the grounds or the stream area unsupervised.
Please contact us immediately if there are any specific needs you may have, including disability needs. It is essential that we are given as much information as possible about your requirements to avoid booking an unsuitable property. Some locations do not lend themselves to easy access and facilities, so please ask first to avoid disappointment. The choice is ultimately the responsibility of the person booking the property, and we cannot be held responsible should a property be booked that is unsuitable or inappropriate.
Location - Situated 4 miles from Aberdyfi and 6 miles from Machynlleth and a short walk away from the Welsh Coastal Path and mountain paths.
