Property code: DY020

Slightly elevated above the Dyfi Estuary, this three-storey cottage will appeal to avid explorers and gentle amblers alike with a whole host of activities available from your doorstep.

Set your sights on Aberdovey for a very special break for two or bring along up to two further guests to join in the fun. Originally a port town, Aberdovey retains much of its old-world charm with its architecture, friendly atmosphere and iconic seaside amusements including ice cream and crabbing. The four-mile stretch of beach is also renowned for its potential for water sports, so you’ll soon find yourself arranging boat trips, sea safaris and activities such as paddleboarding, windsurfing and sailing. The golfers amongst you will delight in the 18-hole championship golf course, and the surroundings are a must for walkers keen to embrace both Snowdonia’s diverse coast and countryside. Foodies are also well catered for thanks to the array of pubs, cafes and shops, and the rolling calendar of events is guaranteed to suit guests of all ages.

The traditional exterior reveals a charming family-friendly property that’s well suited to couples or a small family with a child in tow, complete with simple decor and period features such as slate floors and timber beams. The lounge is characterful and homely for those quiet afternoons relaxing on the sofas with a warming drink clasped in your hands and watch TV, sit at the table to dine together or simply unwind with your favourite book. Push aside the curtain in the doorway and venture through to the compact kitchen that’s laid out in a galley style with clever storage solutions to maximise the use of space. There’s a fridge/freezer tucked beneath the stairs, and you’ll also have an electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and a microwave for rustling up meals and clearing away afterwards. Steep cottage-style stairs curve up to the first-floor lounge with its marvellous views, comfortable seating, TV and DVD. There’s also a bathroom on this level that consists of a shower over the bath and WC. A further steep set of stairs will take you to the top of the property, a welcome sight for weary guests as this is where the two bedrooms are located. Both have useful storage and double beds, but please note that one of the beds can only be accessed from one side.

Outside, the patio area is unenclosed, bordering a slightly sloped path that leads down to the main road. Pause for a moment to gaze across the estuary to the mountains beyond, sitting down to fully appreciate the views. In terms of parking, you’ll have a parking permit for one car to use in the ‘Pay & display’ car park at Nantiesyn or by the beach.

Lovely homely cottage full of character. Fantastic location and wonderful sea views. Loved the little terrace for having a cuppa and watching everything going on in the sea. The very steep staircase was fine for us, but could be tricky for others.

Beautiful little cottage with amazing views, perfect for a small family, or couples. steep stairs so if you have little ones a stair gate is essential. Parking is with a short walk, along with the nearest railway platform. Too many hikes to mention, so if you love hiking the hills and mountains then this is a perfect base.

Lovely little cosy cottage, well equipped and great location. Also, has the benefit of amazing views over the estuary, which seem to change by the hour. In addition Id also like to say how helpful Paul, the property manager was in our hour of need (not cottage related), he went over and above to help us, which we really appreciated.
