Slightly elevated above the Dyfi Estuary, this three-storey cottage will appeal to avid explorers and gentle amblers alike with a whole host of activities available from your doorstep.

Set your sights on Aberdovey for a very special break for two or bring along up to two further guests to join in the fun. Originally a port town, Aberdovey retains much of its old-world charm with its architecture, friendly atmosphere and iconic seaside amusements including ice cream and crabbing. The four-mile stretch of beach is also renowned for its potential for water sports, so you’ll soon find yourself arranging boat trips, sea safaris and activities such as paddleboarding, windsurfing and sailing. The golfers amongst you will delight in the 18-hole championship golf course, and the surroundings are a must for walkers keen to embrace both Snowdonia’s diverse coast and countryside. Foodies are also well catered for thanks to the array of pubs, cafes and shops, and the rolling calendar of events is guaranteed to suit guests of all ages.

The traditional exterior reveals a charming family-friendly property that’s well suited to couples or a small family with a child in tow, complete with simple decor and period features such as slate floors and timber beams. The lounge is characterful and homely for those quiet afternoons relaxing on the sofas with a warming drink clasped in your hands and watch TV, sit at the table to dine together or simply unwind with your favourite book. Push aside the curtain in the doorway and venture through to the compact kitchen that’s laid out in a galley style with clever storage solutions to maximise the use of space. There’s a fridge/freezer tucked beneath the stairs, and you’ll also have an electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and a microwave for rustling up meals and clearing away afterwards. Steep cottage-style stairs curve up to the first-floor lounge with its marvellous views, comfortable seating, TV and DVD. There’s also a bathroom on this level that consists of a shower over the bath and WC. A further steep set of stairs will take you to the top of the property, a welcome sight for weary guests as this is where the two bedrooms are located. Both have useful storage and small 4ft double beds, but please note that one of the beds can only be accessed from one side.

Outside, the patio area is unenclosed, bordering a slightly sloped path that leads down to the main road. Pause for a moment to gaze across the estuary to the mountains beyond, sitting down to fully appreciate the views. In terms of parking, you’ll have a parking permit for one car to use in the ‘Pay & display’ car park at Nantiesyn or by the beach.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Map
Note: As the postcode is used to identify the general area of the property, it may not always reflect its precise location, therefore please only use this map as a guide.

Mid-West Wales is a land full of green hills and clear seas. With the spine of the Cambrian Mountains to the east and the hidden coves of the Ceredigion coastline carving out marvellous openings all along the western shoreline, it’s a mecca for those who crave outstanding natural surroundings. There are also charming villages and quaint seaside towns dotted here and there, giving you the chance to try a regional delicacy or speak to some friendly locals.

A thriving harbour resort just within the Snowdonia National Park boundaries, Aberdovey, meaning river mouth, also lies inside Wales’ only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the Dyfi Biosphere. With Cader Idris looming in the distance, Aberdovey enjoys a complementary fusion of dense woodland and a golden beach where the River Dyfi meets Cardigan Bay.

Also near the River Dyfi are Pennal and Cwrt, two villages which lie on the River Sychan, which feeds the River Dyfi. Small in size but with natural grandeur, these villages have walks which provide magnificent vistas and if you’re lucky, you may even spot wild otters holding hands by the river’s edge.

Moving away from the river, you can follow the ‘Happy Valley’ which leads all the way to Tywyn. You’ll pass scenic splendour as the road twists and turns past the ‘Bearded Lake’. Tywyn is a beautiful seaside base for all types of excursions. Stroll the large, sandy beach or visit the Talyllyn Railway, that journeys deep into the hills.

We have a handpicked collection of self-catering properties along southern Snowdonia on the banks of the Dyfi Estuary. Whether it’s Aberdovey, Pennal and Cwrt or Tywyn, we’ve got dog-friendly, large, luxury and coastal accommodation to suit your needs.
