Foel y Graig is a fabulous hideaway and welcoming home for six lucky people. With large social spaces, two double bedrooms and a separate annexe en-suite double bedroom, situated away from the main building, and bags of outdoor space, it's ideal for multi-generational families or a group of friends wanting to spend time together. It's also dog-friendly so your furry friends needn't be left behind.
Situated just above the ancient Roman encampment of Frongoch, an area where you can explore the coastline of the Dyfi Estuary with its hidden bays and paths. You're also ideally positioned to explore the wonderful Southern Snowdonia and its coastline and places such as Aberdyfi / Aberdovey (3 miles away), The historic town of Machynlleth "ancient capital of Wales" (6 Miles away), The Centre for Alternative Technology ‘CAT’ (7 miles away) and the old mining town of Corris where you can explore old mine workings, visit Bike Corris for an adrenalin-fuelled day of fun, or relax at the Corris Craft Centre where you’ll find a great collection of shops, award-winning attractions and activities to keep the whole family entertained for hours (8 miles away).
The house boasts two separate spaces; the main house and the ensuite bedroom annexe. The main house retains much of its traditional character with oak beams, slate stone walls and tree-lined views over the Dyfi Estuary to the Plynlimon mountains beyond. In the main lounge, you will find a light and airy space with comfy leather chairs and large windows making it a great place to unwind and relax with your friends and family. There is a built-in surround sound theatre system, a Smart television and wireless music system. The French doors from the main lounge lead out to a private slate chipped terrace with surrounding oak woodland making it perfect for alfresco drinks or dining. The large open plan kitchen area can act as a second living space, this leads to an open staircase to a small mezzanine seating area with a double sofa, this then leads into a double bedroom. Downstairs, you have a shower room, an additional toilet with WC and sink, and a second double bedroom. The whole property is fully Wi-Fi ready so you can keep in touch with the outside world if you need to.

Entrance - The front entrance leads directly to the open plan kitchen/dining and living area, ground floor bedroom, WC room, and separate shower room.
Kitchen/Dining Room -
A large farmhouse style modern kitchen with wooden work surfaces and wall units. Large dining table for six, one easy chair. Under counter dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and separate freezer (3 drawers). Electric halogen hob and separate enclosed electric oven. Toaster, kettle, Nespresso Krups coffee maker and milk frother and all the equipment you'll need to rustle up a feast. Pure DAB radio. The vaulted ceiling heated flagged flooring, and partially exposed stone walls adds Welsh character to this light and airy room.
Living room- Two large leather settees, one leather armchair, one leather easy chair and a wood pellet burner. A smart LCD TV, NAIM audio system, Wi-Fi and a drawer of games.
Bedroom 1 - Ground floor bedroom with a king-sized bed, two bedside tables and lamps and a small storage locker. There is an additional large sliding door that opens out into the kitchen for guests needing access through a larger doorway.
Bedroom 2 & Mezzanine (located just above the kitchen and surrounded by the oak beams, there are 12 open steps up to the mezzanine with glass partitions).
Mezzanine seating area with comfy sofa, this leads to bedroom 2 which has a double bed, two bedside tables and a chest of drawers.
Children must be supervised in the mezzanine area.
Bedroom 3 (Annex Bedroom) - Located away from the main house. This separate annexe bedroom has a double bed, two bedside cabinets and hanging space behind a wall mirror, full en-suite shower room.
Outside Area & Garden - At the front of the house lies a chipped slate sun terrace which encircles the property and outbuildings. The property is surrounded by ancient woodland comprising of mainly oak trees and was once part of the Wales' Celtic rainforest. There are also stunning views over Plynlimon mountains and Dyfi Estuary, particularly from the south-facing viewing point that the owner has created above Foel y Graig, a marvellous spot to relax on sunny days.
Behind Foel y Graig is a private access road to Bearded Lake (Llyn Barfog) and the Panorama Walk. A diversion can be made to hear the echo from the summit cairn on Mynydd y Llyn or descend into Happy Valley (Cwm Maethlon) where you can discover truly wild Wales amid the lonesome beauty of the Tarren Hills.
As the property is surrounded by woodland and steep droops, children and pets must be supervised at all times.
Aberdyfi / Aberdovey
The picturesque harbour village of Aberdyfi / Aberdovey is renowned for its mild climate, sandy beaches, sailing and a championship 18-hole links golf course (rated in the UK's top 100). The village is often referred to as “an artist's paradise” with its pastel-coloured cottages, small shops, inns and excellent restaurants which specialise in local seafood, all helping to create a relaxed welcoming atmosphere.
Aberdyfi / Aberdovey boasts some of the finest beaches in Britain, with four miles of golden sand-dune backed shoreline running north to Tywyn, home of the world-famous Talyllyn narrow gauge Steam Railway, crab fishing and the famous Dyfi Donkeys. The beaches are popular with sunbathers, swimmers, surfers and fishermen while the estuary attracts a wide range of water sports enthusiasts.
The peaks of the Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy ranges are within easy reach and are complemented by the charm of the Dyfi, Dysynni and Tal y Llyn valleys nearby. An ideal area for walkers, climbers and wildlife watchers, and a wonderful all-year-round location.

Booking and Payment
Dyfi Cottages & Aberdyfi Holidays is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the accommodation listed on our websites. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement between you and the property owner.
For bookings made more than 8 weeks before arrival, a 30% deposit of the total cost of the holiday is required at the time of booking. The balance is then due 8 weeks before the holiday commences.
For bookings made less than 8 weeks before arrival, the total amount is payable at the time of booking.
Security deposits are not normally required. Please note that guests are still liable for any damage, breakages, or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions.
Arrival & Departure times
Arrival time is from 5 pm / Departure time is no later than 09.30 am.
Please note: check-in and check-out times at the majority of our properties have been temporarily revised. The revised times for this property are reflected above.
Short Breaks - When and where available, they can be booked for a minimum of 3 nights from the following days:
- Friday to Monday for a 3-night weekend break
- Monday to Friday for a 4 night midweek break
From November to February, arrival days may be more flexible nearer the time although these exclude Sundays and any holidays.
Bed linen and towels are provided.

Heating and electric are included in the accommodation price.
Sorry, there are no infant facilities available at Foel y Graig.
Maximum of two well-behaved pets are welcome at an additional charge of £25 each (to be kept downstairs, please keep your pets out of all bedrooms and off soft furnishings).
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available. The owner cannot guarantee the availability or speed of the service as this is dependent on third-party suppliers.
There is private parking for up to 4 cars
Health and Safety
Foel y Graig situated in the middle of dense natural woodland with deep valleys and running streams. Please supervise children and pets at all times both inside and outside the property.
There are small rock faces around the property and at the viewing area above the property, please do not allow children to play or climb on the rock.

Some locations do not lend themselves to easy access and facilities, so please ask first to avoid disappointment. Foel y Graig is situated in a remote location within the heart of the Dyfi Estuary's local natural woodland, and situated 3 miles from Aberdovey/Aberdyfi and 6 miles from the market town of Machynlleth.

Accommodation lovely and it was sooo nice to be back in Aberdovey once again! We brought other members of our family this time and they loved it also. Plenty of hours spent on the beach, crabbing and nice walks. Will defiantly be back!!!
Great accommodation, lovely rooms finished to a very high standard. Not very good weather on Saturday, but Sunday and Monday made up for it. Kids enjoyed the crab catching and the sea was fairly warm for this time of year. Hope to be back in the near future for another great visit.
We have had a great time on holiday, this house was lovely to stay in! There was plenty to do and we made the most of our time here.
