Smugglers Cove is an outdoor enthusiast's ideal place to stay, with its own natural harbour for wild swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, foraging and launching small boats, plus its own deep-water moorings so you can bring your own boat. It is perfectly placed to enjoy life on the water, exploring hidden beaches and clandestine coves along the banks of the River Dyfi. Smugglers Cove has a laid back and rustic feel, with a large enclosed garden for outdoor living during sunny weather, a natural amphitheatre and BBQ area. Whether you meander down past the working boatyard path or arrive by boat, Smugglers Cove is an idyllic get away from it all homestay.
The cottages - Smugglers Cove accommodates 14 people and consists of two closely adjacent buildings, ‘Chapel House’ with five bedrooms (Sleeps 10) & 'Quarry Cottage' with two bedrooms (sleeps 4) with a private courtyard and suntrap. The properties are only available to rent as a single holiday let.
Garden and outside space
There's something of a secret garden feel about the enclosed grassy surroundings making this an idyllic spot for entertaining on warm sunny days or cosying up in blankets on clear nights when a spot of stargazing is in order. There is of course always the beach and slipway surrounding the small natural harbour. Smugglers Cove lends itself to those who like to be on or in the water.
There is excellent fishing from the rocks and foreshore, with sea bass, place and mullet being the most popular catch.

Ground Floor
Entrance - hallway leads to the ground floor master bedroom, bunk bedroom, twin bedroom, two shower rooms, two separate WC's, open plan kitchen/dining and lounge area. There are two further bedrooms upstairs and a family bathroom.
Bedroom 1 - Master bedroom with a double four-poster bed, freestanding wardrobe, two chests of drawers, two bedside tables. Oak french doors to the outside courtyard and seating area.
Bedroom 2 - Bunk bedroom with freestanding wardrobe.
Bedroom 3 - Twin bedroom with freestanding wardrobe.
Shower Rooms - Two separate shower rooms with washbasins.
W.C - Two separate toilets with washbasins.
Open plan area - Fully fitted kitchen with Belling Range cooker (electric oven and gas hob), dishwasher, microwave, kettle toaster, large American style fridge/freezer (2 drawers/3 shelves) and large dining table with seating for 14 people (chairs and two large church pews. There are four large sofas, wood-burning stove, LCD TV, DVD/CD player and patio doors to rear garden.

Family Bathroom - Bath with overhead hand hels shower, toilet & sink
Outside Space - front patio with 2 large picnic tables and benches, children's sandpit. A rear garden with a natural amphitheatre style seating and BBQ area.

Entrance - through the conservatory to a ground floor twin bedroom, shower room and open plan kitchen/dining and living room.
Bedroom 6 - Ground floor twin bedroom with a freestanding wardrobe, two bedside tables and lamps. French doors to the outside courtyard and seating area.
Shower Room - Shower, WC and sink.
Kitchen/Dining and Lounge - Freestanding cooker with gas oven and hob, freestanding fridge, pine dining table and chairs, two-seater settee, 2 x easy chairs, wood-burning stove, small LCD TV, DVD player and CD radio. Door to the rear patio.
Outside Courtyard - Bench style seating, table and chairs.

Aberdyfi / Aberdovey
The picturesque harbour village of Aberdyfi / Aberdovey is renowned for its mild climate, sandy beaches, sailing and a championship 18-hole links golf course (rated in the UK's top 100). The village is often referred to as “an artist's paradise” with its pastel-coloured cottages, small shops, inns and excellent restaurants which specialise in local seafood, all helping to create a relaxed welcoming atmosphere.
Aberdyfi / Aberdovey boasts some of the finest beaches in Britain, with four miles of golden sand-dune backed shoreline running north to Tywyn, home of the world-famous Talyllyn narrow gauge Steam Railway, crab fishing and the famous Dyfi Donkeys. The beaches are popular with sunbathers, swimmers, surfers and fishermen while the estuary attracts a wide range of water sports enthusiasts.
The peaks of the Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy ranges are within easy reach and are complemented by the charm of the Dyfi, Dysynni and Tal y Llyn valleys nearby. An ideal area for walkers, climbers and wildlife watchers, and a wonderful all-year-round location.

Booking and Payment
Dyfi Cottages & Aberdyfi Holidays is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the accommodation listed on our websites. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement between you and the property owner.
For bookings made more than 8 weeks before arrival, a 30% deposit of the total cost of the holiday is required at the time of booking. The balance is then due 8 weeks before the holiday commences.
For bookings made less than 8 weeks before arrival, the total amount is payable at the time of booking.
Security Deposits
Security deposits are not normally required. Please note that guests are still liable for any damage, breakages or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions.
Arrival & Departure times
Arrival time is from 5 pm / Departure time is no later than 09.30 am
Please note: check-in and check-out times at the majority of our properties have been temporarily revised. The revised times for this property are reflected above.
Short Breaks
Short breaks are available and can be booked for a minimum of 3 nights from the following days:
- Friday to Monday for a 3-night weekend break
- Monday to Friday for a 4 night midweek break
During November to February arrival days may be more flexible nearer the time although these exclude Sundays and any holidays.
Bed Linen
Bed linen and towels are provided.
Heating & Electric
Heating and electric are included in the accommodation price.
Infant facilities
1 Travel cot, 1 & high chair are available in the property (there is no bedding provided for the travel cot).
Pets
Maximum of five well-behaved pets are welcome at an additional charge of £25 each (to be kept downstairs).
Wi-Fi
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available. Due to the location of the cottage, the service is poor.
Parking
There is private parking for up to 5 cars.
Access Health and Safety
Smugglers Cove is situated on the main Aberdyfi to Machynlleth road which can become busy especially during the high season. Please supervise children and pets when exiting the property's parking area.
There are small paths, hidden parts to the garden and woodland surrounding the property as well as steep drops nearby as well as a private beachfront, please do not allow children to play or explore the grounds or the shoreline unsupervised.
Please contact us immediately if there are any specific needs you may have, including disability needs. It is essential that we are given as much information as possible about your requirements to avoid booking an unsuitable property. Some locations do not lend themselves to easy access and facilities, so please ask first to avoid disappointment. The choice is ultimately the responsibility of the person booking the property, and we cannot be held responsible should a property be booked that is unsuitable or inappropriate.
Location - Situated 3 miles from Aberdyfi and 7 miles from Machynlleth with access to the beaches, and a short walk away from the Welsh Coastal Path and mountain paths.
