The Lodge is a welcoming home for up to six guests and two pets, the property has its own woodland which is known as 'The Island'. The Island's beachfront location is the ideal place for keeping and launching your own kayak to explore the Dyfi Estuary.
The Island can be reached by crossing the main road from the cottage and following the woodland path, from here you go over the railway crossing and escape to your own private world with stunning views up and down the Dyfi Estuary and beachfront locations. The owners have another holiday home in Aberdovey and occasionally visit The Island when they are in residence.
The cottage itself has been renovated to a good standard with a large lounge and combined dining area with french doors out onto a wooden deck area which is an ideal location for alfresco dining. There are two double bedrooms (one of which is ensuite) and one twin bedroom. The cottage is also dog-friendly so your furry friends needn't be left behind.
Situated just near the ancient Roman encampment of Frongoch, an area where you can explore the coastline of the Dyfi Estuary with its hidden bays and paths. You're also ideally positioned to explore the wonderful Southern Snowdonia and its coastline and places such as Aberdyfi / Aberdovey (3 miles away), The historic town of Machynlleth "ancient capital of Wales" (6 Miles away), The Centre for Alternative Technology ‘CAT’ (7 miles away) and the old mining town of Corris where you can explore old mine workings, visit Bike Corris for an adrenalin-fuelled day of fun, or relax at the Corris Craft Centre where you’ll find a great collection of shops, award-winning attractions and activities to keep the whole family entertained for hours (8 miles away).
The main house has a traditional character with views over the Dyfi Estuary to the Plynlimon mountains beyond from the two double bedrooms. In the lounge, you will find a light and airy space with comfy chairs and two large French doors. The whole property is fully Wi-Fi ready so you can keep in touch with the outside world if you need to.

Entrance - The front entrance leads into a hallway with doors leading into the kitchen, lounge/dining area, and downstairs WC.
Kitchen - The kitchen is well laid out with a breakfast bar and all the equipment needed for your holiday.
Living & Dining Room - There is a large dining table for six, two easy chairs and a large sofa, a wood burner, Wi-Fi, and a drawer of games.
W.C toilet and washbasin.
Bedroom 1 - a front-facing ensuite bedroom with a king-sized bed, two bedside tables, and lamps, a large wardrobe, and a chest of drawers.
Ensuite to bedroom 1 - Enclosed shower, toilet & washbasin.
Bedroom 2 - double bedroom with a super king bed, two bedside tables, and lamps, a wardrobe, and a chest of drawers.
Bedroom 3 - twin bedroom with a chest of drawers and hanging space.
Family Bathroom - Rolled top bath, enclosed shower, toilet & washbasin.
Outside Area & Garden - At the front of the house lies a wooden decked sun terrace. The property is surrounded by ancient woodland comprising of mainly oak trees and was once part of Wales' Celtic rainforest. There are also stunning views from 'The Island' over the Plynlimon mountains and Dyfi Estuary, particularly from the south-facing viewing point, a lovely spot to relax on sunny days.
Behind The Lodge is a footpath to Bearded Lake (Llyn Barfog) and the Panorama Walk. A diversion can be made to hear the echo from the summit cairn on Mynydd y Llyn or descend into Happy Valley (Cwm Maethlon) where you can discover truly wild Wales amid the lonesome beauty of the Tarren Hills. (steps are uneven and can be slippery when wet, the garden has steep drops, therefore, children and pets are to be supervised at all times)
Aberdyfi / Aberdovey
The picturesque harbour village of Aberdyfi / Aberdovey is renowned for its mild climate, sandy beaches, sailing and a championship 18-hole links golf course (rated in the UK's top 100). The village is often referred to as “an artist's paradise” with its pastel-coloured cottages, small shops, inns and excellent restaurants which specialise in local seafood, all helping to create a relaxed welcoming atmosphere.
Aberdyfi / Aberdovey boasts some of the finest beaches in Britain, with four miles of golden sand-dune backed shoreline running north to Tywyn, home of the world-famous Talyllyn narrow gauge Steam Railway, crab fishing and the famous Dyfi Donkeys. The beaches are popular with sunbathers, swimmers, surfers and fishermen while the estuary attracts a wide range of water sports enthusiasts.
The peaks of the Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy ranges are within easy reach and are complemented by the charm of the Dyfi, Dysynni and Tal y Llyn valleys nearby. An ideal area for walkers, climbers and wildlife watchers, and a wonderful all-year-round location.

Booking and Payment
Dyfi Cottages & Aberdyfi Holidays is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the accommodation listed on our websites. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement between you and the property owner.
For bookings made more than 8 weeks before arrival, a 30% deposit of the total cost of the holiday is required at the time of booking. The balance is then due 8 weeks before the holiday commences.
For bookings made less than 8 weeks before arrival, the total amount is payable at the time of booking.
Security deposits are not normally required. Please note that guests are still liable for any damage, breakages, or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions.
Arrival & Departure times
Arrival time is from 5 pm / Departure time is no later than 09.30 am.
Please note: check-in and check-out times at the majority of our properties have been temporarily revised. The revised times for this property are reflected above.
When and where available, they can be booked for a minimum of 3 nights from the following days:
- Friday to Monday for a 3-night weekend break
- Monday to Friday for a 4 night midweek break
During November to February arrival days may be more flexible nearer the time although these exclude Sundays and any holidays.
Bed linen and towels are provided.
Heating & Electric
Heating and electric are included in the accommodation price (logs are not supplied but can be purchased locally).
Sorry there are no infant facilities available at The Lodge
A maximum of two well-behaved pets are welcome at an additional charge of £25 each (to be kept downstairs, please keep your pets out of all bedrooms and off soft furnishings).
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available. The owner cannot guarantee the availability or speed of the service as this is dependent on third-party suppliers.
There is private parking for up to 3 cars on the drive. Please do not park on the access drive outside the property.
Access, Health, and Safety
The Lodge is situated close to the main road from Aberdyfi to Machynlleth, also beside a dense natural woodland with deep valleys, steep drops, and running streams. The path down to the beach comprises crossing the main road and the Cambrian Coast railway line. Please ensure that children and pets are supervised at all times, both inside and outside the property.
There are a number of small rock faces on 'The Island' near the beach and viewing areas, please do not allow children to play or climb on the rocks.
Please contact us immediately if there are any specific needs you may have, including disability needs. It is essential that we are given as much information as possible about your requirements to avoid booking an unsuitable property. Some locations do not lend themselves to easy access and facilities, so please ask first to avoid disappointment. The choice is ultimately the responsibility of the person booking the property, and we cannot be held responsible should a property be booked that is unsuitable or inappropriate.
The Lodge is situated next to the Dyfi Estuary's local natural woodland and situated 3 miles from Aberdovey/Aberdyfi and 6 miles from the market town of Machynlleth.
